Godly Womanhood?

“Godly womanhood… the very phrase sounds strange in our ears. We never hear it now. We hear about every other type of women: beautiful women, smart women, sophisticated women, career women, talented women, divorced women. But so seldom do we hear of a godly woman—or of a godly man either, for that matter. We believe women come nearer to fulfilling their God given function in the home than anywhere else. It is a much nobler thing to be a good wife, than to be Miss America. It is a greater achievement to establish a Christian home than it is to produce a second-rate novel filled with filth. It is a far, far better thing in the realms of morals to be old-fashioned, than to be ultra modern. The world has enough women who know how to be smart. It needs women who are willing to be simple. The world has enough women who know how to be brilliant. It needs some who will be brave. The world has enough women who are popular. It needs more who are pure. We need women, and men, too, who would rather be morally right than socially correct.”

-Former U.S. Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall

Oh how true...

Have a wonderfully blessed day! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Wow...very true! I wish more people still thought this way today..we'd be in a lot better shape as a country then we are now!

  2. That's just wonderful, Angel! Thank you for posting it - what a beautiful reminder that, even though the whole world seems stacked against our desire to be godly women, the Lord sees our hearts and will honor that desire. And it's also a good reminder that there are still people who know and value the beauty of a godly woman. This is an encouraging quote! :-)

    Happy Valentine's Day, my friend!

  3. What a wonderful wonderful way to put it. I love the last sentence in particular. It gives me hope to know there are others out there, just like me, pushing back against the pressures to turn women into career-driven, sexuality flaunting, beacons of immorality.

  4. Wow! What an inspiring quote! Would you mind if I use it on my blog? It is so encouraging and I would love to share it with others! Thank you for posting this! It is very refreshing to read from like-minded young women! I look forward to most posts from you! ~Jordan

Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by! I LOVE to hear from you all out there. Just please remember to keep everything kind and Christ-like. In the words of that wise papa rabbit, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all". :)
